Scary stuff in Portland, if you care about about newspapers.

Since I’m in South Louisiana, I’m most affected by the Times-Picayune’s going to three-day publication. I read all of my news online, but a lot of people don’t, and as one person pointed out in the article you link to, the Times-Picayune’s NOLA. com website is “god-awful.” Trying to find any real news on that website is a chore. I don’t mind subscribing to newspapers online (I subscribe to The New York Times online), but whoever is in charge of creating news websites needs to be really web-design savvy to create a site that’s easy to navigate. And if the newspaper were really interested in maintaining excellent online journalism, the managers wouldn’t be firing most of the news staff.
