Ronald G. Lundeen, 81, a retired bank examiner for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., died of cancer on July 28, 2014.
He was born July 1, 1933, in Alvarado, Minn., to Elmer and Gladys (Westby) Lundeen. In 1955, he married Mary Ann Campbell, who died in 1997. He married Darlene Link in 2001.
He attended schools in the East Grand Forks, Minn., area, graduating from Central High School in East Grand Forks. He attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, N.D., interrupted by two years in the Army serving as a code radio operator and as part of the Atomic Energy Commission bombing experiments in the Nevada desert. He graduated from UND with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
For 31 years he managed Wohl Shoe Cos. stores in the Midwest. He owned his own shoe store in Westminster, Colo., for eight years, then became an investment manager and counselor. In 1986 he became a bank examiner for the FDIC.
After retirement, he volunteered at Billings City College and the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program, among others.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Robin Lundeen of Brighton, Colo., and Julie Lundeen–Russell of Billings; stepchildren, Pat Carter, Dave Rinn Jr. and Barb Erks; a brother, Dale of Fargo, N.D.; three sisters, Wanda Wright of Portland, Ore., Corrine Simonson of East Grand Forks and Maurine Danielson of Grand Forks; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
Inurnment will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at Yellowstone National Cemetery in Laurel. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 2 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Arrangements are by Cremation & Funeral Gallery.
